It looks like a combination of e40-rtr and bart-savagewood can explain
all of the reports of bad 8.0 performance.
We still don't know what's up with bart-savagewood (it's not just
builds; latex runs slowly on that machine too), but that doesn't need
to concern the release team. Since I can't find any obvious software
problems with the machine (SIPB's changes are irrelevant and there are
no obvious processes left running), I can think of two possibilities:
* It's been up for 14 days; perhaps there is a problem with
degradation over time. savage certainly gets used more
often than E40 office machines.
* There could be a hardware problem.
Anyway, sorry for the false alarm.
