Hi Greg,

Would it cause any problems to add the .generation file to the moira
copy of the prototype user dotfiles now? It seems like that would work
with your proposed change, and once the patch release goes out the
right thing would happen for the class of 2012. They are starting to
register en masse now, and if we wait with the whole change until the
end of May, I suspect we will miss the majority.

Alternatively I suppose we could place a .generation file into their
homedirs retroactively, but I'm a little more wary about doing that.
It's something we've traditionally steered away from.

Garry, if there are no objections, would it be possible for you to add
the .generation file with the value 1 into the moira copy of the
prototype user homedir contents?

Thanks,

Oliver
