Two of the machines in the Indy beta cluster are in the list of 89,
capacitor-bank and special-forces.  (Three of the machines in the
early cluster are also in the list).

I wouldn't argue too strenuously with that recommendation. :)
We do need to ensure adequate time to do the work and test it, though,
if no good fix is available by the time we'd require it.

We could manually disable the workaround via a PROM environment variable
on the two machines in the beta cluster; this would allow us to test
updating and running in that mode, should we need to do so beyond the beta
period.  (This can only be done at the machine console).

Other thoughts?
