Yes- definitely- if the work-around holds up, we shouldn't start messing
with patches... I'd still like to know the underlying cause, and if SGI
is really the culprit... if so it might bite us again. I did try compiling
an OpenGL-using application on one of the problem machines, and it
ran OK... also a random sampling of some of our other Third Party apps...
