Of these, we do *not* install c_eoe.sw32.lib and ftn77_eoe.sw32.lib;
inst claims they are older versions of compiler_eoe.sw32.lib and
ftn_eoe.sw.lib, respectively.  (I believe the latter two are needed
by the 7.2 compiler software).

As I mentioned before, we install patch 2580, which claims to
supersede 1746.

Apparently not the problem.  I started with 256 MB free of swap, and also
tried adding another swap partition, with no improvement.

Of these, only 2458 is installed; I didn't try uninstalling it.  Since,
as your later mail indicated, we have their workaround of making it
think it's running on 5.3, I don't think we want to consider removing
the patch.
