1. Patch release 8.1.11 went out. No problems reported at this time.

2. look at mime support
we need to provide a way to read word documents (a viewer
would be good)
how do we handle locker dependencies -- attack and run?
how do we sync with infoagents? do we want to?
	graphics, acro, etc.
make sure our solution works for dialups

	1. publicize "desirable" default setup and leave it to
individuals
	2. do it for people (global mailcap)
	3. a small group (wdc, lcs, ???) should review possibilities,
develop plan/options - come back to release team in two weeks
	- should provide basic set of types
	- should consider keeping mh in line with netscape, lynx,
mosaic
	- should consider long-term support issues

3. lpr has been modified to accept unlimited input from pipe.

4. We will remove the xlogin options (olh, xinfo, techinfo).

5. Ultra - jhawk and ghudson have a method of booting an ultra with
hacking. does a tftp network boot of cnboot, needs sol 2.5.1 miniroot
and a patch release, and has other crudities.
	1. We need to review this work with Miki. May revise the way
	it is done.
	2. Provides "proof-of-concept" to allow us to proceed with
"full release" of ultras
	3. ops and departments need Ultra release. We should get the
ultras in and begin working towards it.
	4. need to let people know that we will be applying resources
toward this work.

6. Start working through the issues with 8.2.
        IRIX 6.2 - agreed
	IRIX 6.3 - agreed
        Solaris 2.6 - agreed
Kerberos 5 - will cause developers to link with different
libraries; needs work on fallback, srvtab->keytab; etc. issues
        ispell - done.
latex 2e - needs checking - support issues; backward
incompatibility; continuing maintenance issues of fonts, etc. may make
tetex a good idea. (othomas volunteered laura to look into it)
synctree - design issues have held this up.
perl 5 - needs checking - support issues. probable approach -
tell people now to start checking against perl5 locker; switch to
perl5 and help people with breakage.
removing/cleaning up prelogin options - remove the three.
libal (login library) - in progress. needed to work with K5.
	traceroute - done

7. Should we re-enable backing store now? Seems to be unneeded, as
the program that was thought to need it has been shown to work fine
without it. Let's hold.

24 bit color, on the other hand, we would like to enable.

8. Next Week's agenda items
	1. discuss approach to determining disk to install on for
Suns (invite Miki and Cluster to attend)
	2. Continue trudging through items on 8.2
	        changing the default windowmanager
reverting backspace/delete on sun to vendor normal
removes maintenance problem with 3rd party packages
autoconf(iscation) - put more packages under autoconf
	        build system changes
bug tracking (procedure, if nothing else)
	        zephyr
	3. rough release schedule
		Crash and Burn - March
		Alpha - April
		Beta - May
		Early - June
		General - July
