Accomplishments for October 2002
--------------------------------
- Transitioned the MIT Events Calendar application into EAST from
Steve Turner. This process went smoothly, largely thanks to Steve
and Todd Belton. This is an important milestone for the team,
as this is the first new application EAST has adopted since it
began developing procedures for such a transition in June.

- Prepared a draft business model for EAST and presented it to
at meetings of Delivery Council and EAST. Lorraine Rappaport
provided invaluable assistance in creating this plan.

- Prepared the "EAST Application Acceptance Checklist and Transition
Schedule." This document will be used to set deadlines for the
phases of transitioning an application to EAST and to determine
whether all the requirements for accepting the application have
   been met.

- TNS:
   1) Fixed 31 broken service orders.
   2) Did globally updating circuits starting with 'CJ' on ICE9.
   3) Did globally updating account information twice.
   4) Did globally updating error status for working Service Orders on ICE9.
   5) Fixed the error for INCOM IN button on label printing program.
   6) Worked with the DBA to fix the problem of SQL*NET for Developer 6.0.
   7) Worked on the enhancement for TNS billing to accept credit charge.

- Corporation Database:
   - Received request from Corporation office for enhancement to Corpdb
     application.
   - Evaluated estimated time needed to complete the various requests.
   - Began communication with Corporation office, regarding addressing
the requests within the next two months.

- Coeus Maintenance:
   - Changes to Oracle 8.1.7.3 and above currently cause some
stored procedures to fail when they try to retrieve data from
tables with data types defined as CHAR(1). To date we have been
recommending to other schools not to upgrade past Oracle 8.1.7.1.
Began analysis of the work required to change the datatype to
VARCHAR2 for these tables, and identified stored procedures which
     will need to be changed.

   - Preparation for release of new Coeus 3.8 client, which
     addresses the a number of bugs for PB5 (Fixes 262, 263, 264, 266,
268, 271, 272). In response to requests from ASU, Princeton, UNC and
others, and in preparation for an eventual MIT transition to PB7,
addressed the several problems that were occurring in PB7, but
     not in PB5 (Fixes 267, 269, 270). A Mac-only bug (Fix 265) was
     resolved.

   - Mac OS X Testing:
     - Tested in OS X 10.1 and MacOS 9.2 Classic environments
     - Tested saving and reading files in various MS Word formats.
     - Able to save a PDF file, created in Acrobat Reader 5.0, to
the database. Able to view a PDF file stored in the database.
     - Extensive printing tests.

   - Windows XP Testing:
     - Determined that Coeus is fully functional under Windows XP.
A few of the screens appear clipped at the bottom under Windows XP,
but users are still able to access full functionality. The team is
looking at a solution for the clipped screens.

- SAPweb/ECAT
     - Made some changes to ECAT that will enable Office Depot, the last
of the old-school vendors, to change over to the newer ECAT code.

     - Did some ongoing work trying to fix several persistent SAPweb
issues, among them the failure to show history details for certain POs,
the "invalid G/L number" bug, and the need to poll SAP for possible
downtime conditions BEFORE the user begins entering lots of PO data.

Goals for November 2002
-----------------------
- Revise business model for EAST.
- Update EAST web pages to create a new page describing the
process of requesting EAST support separate from the "Enterprise
   Application Software Standards" page.
- Complete or revise drafts of documentation for EAST applications.

TNS:
- Finish the feed testing with CAO for credit charge enhancement and
    implement it into production.
- Test Oracle Form6 on Oracle Developer 6.0.

Corporation Database:
- Finalize agreements with Corporation office about enhancements to be
made, timeline for the work, and Corporation office availability for
   testing.
- Begin addressing the requested changes.

Coeus Maintenance:
- Create Mac and Windows installers for the new Coeus 3.8 client.
- Deploy new Coeus 3.8 client to other schools.
- Evaluate timeline for addressing clipped screens on Windows XP.
- Evaluate timeline for addressing form printing issues on Mac OS 9
    and Mac OS X

Next Community Milestones
-------------------------
- Deliver updated version of the Corporation Database application
- Deliver updated Coeus 3.8 client
