Project Name: Online Credit Card Processing - ClearCommerce
Submitted By: Lorraine Rappaport
Report Date: November 8, 2002
Project URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/delivery/ccard

Accomplishments in October:
- Sangam, the Indian Student Association, went live with their event
registration site.
- Rolled out new settlement and item category reports.
- Created web order form for LFM-SDM to collect tuition, fees, and other
department receivables. This form will complement their ShopSite
conference registration site. The solution used for them will scale to
other merchants who desire simple payment forms.
- Began conversations and planning with Tech Review to help streamline
their back-office credit card processing using OMARS servlets
- Received requests from two student groups -- the European Career Fair and
Tau Beta Pi (who are sponsoring a career fair) to collect registrations via
ShopSite and ClearCommerce.
- Developed plan for improved structure for configuring OMARS servlets for
new stores.
- Worked with Document Services to streamline their business processes for
dealing with and distributing revenues for credit card payments.
- Met with Web Communication Services to update them on the project,
discuss support issues, etc. WCS' insights and advice were invaluable
and conversations will be ongoing.
- Revised outline for merchant documentation.
- ClearCommerce informed us of a change in their store licensing
policy. The old policy assumed an annual cost for each merchant
store. The new policy allows us to purchase a block of stores for a
one-time fee. In the long run, the new policy will save MIT a significant
amount of money, and be much more lucrative for merchants.

Goals for Next Period:
- Go live with forms-WebPOS servlet to enable merchant web payment forms.
- Depending on the merchants' readiness, configure and (possibly) go live
with the following sites:
       - LFM-SDM payment form
       - Tech Review
       - European Career Fair
       - Tau Beta Pi career fair
- Yet more documenting...
- Continue to wind down pilot.

Next community milestones:
- Roll-out of the new merchants mentioned above.
