The Merit Networking Seminars:
Making Your NSFNET Connection Count
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Merit/NSFNET Information Services will sponsor a one-and-
a-half day seminar at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor,
Michigan on October 19 and 20, 1992. "Making Your NSFNET
Connection Count" will be an informative seminar focusing on
Internet tools, resources, and applications. Campus computing
leaders, information systems and networking administrators,
educational liaisons, librarians, and educators with beginning or
intermediate network experience are encouraged to attend.
An optional three-hour hands-on tutorial will also be offered.
Experienced Merit staff will introduce participants to Internet
tools such as electronic mail, telnet, ftp, Gopher, and WAIS. The
handout included with the tutorial will help participants teach their
colleagues what they have learned.
Since 1987, Merit Network, Inc. has operated and managed the
NSFNET backbone. Merit also manages MichNet, Michigan's
statewide network, providing networking services for over two decades.
The registration fee is $295 until October 5. After October 5 the
fee is $345. This fee does not include the tutorial, which is an extra
$79. The fee does include the rest of the seminar, receptions on Sunday
and Monday evenings, lunches on Monday and Tuesday, the
demonstration room, and all other seminar materials. For further
