Those shiny CD-ROM's and music CD's are great for crafts. For
example, I know of one person who used a CD-ROM as the base of a
merry-go-round. I made a clock (and a month later saw one just
like it in the store - so much for originality!) Maybe a local
school or day care center could use them for similar craft
projects.

I believe Radio Shack uses old CDs as a backing for a clock face --
you know, hands come through the center and sweep around.

I have a friend that buys clock kits from hobby stores (they come with
hands and a small motor with battery holder, and can be put on virtually
anything that's thin enough and has a hole through the center) and makes
clocks to give away with CDs that he purchased and didn't like. The kits
are usually cheap and you could make one for everyone in the library and
give them away at the annual staff party. (you do have an annual staff party
don't you?)
