K-12 Trainer for Network Tools and Services
The Academic Computing Facility of New York University working with
NYSERnet Inc., a regional network centered in New York State has a
fulltime position available in the area of K-12 computing. This
person will be working with teachers and students in New York City
and Tri-State region schools. This position is currently funded
for 1 year with possible continued funding.
Duties will involve instruction of teachers and students primarily
in the area of electronic mail usage, Internet/Bitnet tools and
services. Access is currently provided on VAX/VMS so an in-depth
working knowledge of VMS is required and the ability to support
telecomunications packages, modems, word processing, databases on
both the PC compatable and Macintosh personal computers. Particular
skill is stressed in the area of TCP/IP based tools on the Internet
such as TELNET and FTP and services like CWIS, WAIS, Gopher and
Internet Library Accessable Catalogs. A familiarity with TCP/IP,
Novell, Appletalk, Unix a plus.
Interpersonal skills, technical knowledge and teaching ability
are stressed as an important strength of the successful applicant.
