CATALOG LIBRARIAN -
Responsible for original cataloging, and assistance with advanced level
copy cataloging, in various formats, with an emphasis on rare book
cataloging; works with AACR2, LC classification, DCRB, and related
standards, on OCLC, in the NOTIS-based CTW Consortium with Connecticut
College and Wesleyan University.  Assists with database maintenance
activities and online authority control.  Participates in the overall
functioning of the Library through the Librarian's Conference, special
appointments, and Library committee work; reports to the Cataloging Unit Head.

Qualifications:  Candidates must have an ALA-accredited MLS; thorough
knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, LC classification, MARC formats, and OCLC or
RLIN cataloging; ability to work effectively both independently and as
part of a team; ability to combine accuracy with efficiency; proven
interpersonal skills.  Preferred:  one of more years of experience in an
academic library, cataloging a variety of materials including rare books
and special collections; a broad liberal arts background; and academic
course work in two or more classical or modern European languages.

Applications:  Salary range:  $26,000-30,000, depending upon education and
