A week or two back, during the thread on PostScript files, I mentioned the
University of Washington Libraries' Internet Notebook. A number of people
have since asked me about its availability.

First a couple of caveats: for reasons I outlined earlier, the notebook is
only going out in PostScript format. Also, the main section of the
notebook, its list of accessible library catalogs, covers information that
is mostly available in a growing number of other places; if you just
mounted Hytelnet or just printed out a recent version of the Barron
list, you probably already have access to this information. Finally,
the notebook was written for people on the UW campus, so it includes a
number of localisms--references to a computer named Milton, escape
sequences and ftp commands that may or may not work for your particular
configuration, &c. &c.

One logistical note: the notebook as distributed in print includes
three documents that are not included online (since they're all
available separately online: they are "Library-Oriented Computer
Conferences and Electronic Serials", distributed regularly on PACS-L,
"Library Resources on the Internet", available at
dla.ucop.edu:pub/internet/libcat-guide, and the CWIS List by Judy
Hallman, available at bbs.oit.unc.edu:pub/docs/cwis-l).

So, if that hasn't scared you off, you can get the notebook at
ftp.cac.washington.edu as nic/uw/library.list.dowling.ps
