NETWORK OPERATIONS DIRECTOR
South Dakota Library Network -- Spearfish SD
The South Dakota Library Network (SDLN) is seeking a Network Operations Dir-
ector to manage its automated collections database network. The SDLN provides
a common autmated database linking twenty-five higher education, government,
school, and public libraries throughout South Dakota. The Network Operations
Director will report to the Executive Director of the South Dakota Board of
Regents through the Director of the Higher Education Computing System and will
work closely with the SDLN Advisory Council. The Network Operations Director's
duties will include:
Managing the network's computer operations and ensuring service to member
libraries.
Assuming responsibility for the fiscal management of the netowrk.
Providing technical advice and leadership for future system enhancements.
Communicating with constituent groups.
Successful applicant will possess a bachelor's degree in Information Science or
a related field; eight years of computer related experience, of which at least
three will be in a management capacity; and experience with library information
systems. Experience with PALS software, Unisys 2200 and Unisys networking
equipment is preferred. Screening for this position will begin May 15, 1992
but will remain open until filled. Salary commensurate with experience.
