NCSU DDTP Demo at ALA

Representatives from North Carolina State University Libraries will be
demonstrating the NCSU Digitized Document Transmission Project's system
software at the Apple Computer booth (#532) Saturday, June 27 from noon to 2:30
p.m.  Eric L. Morgan, NCSU Libraries' Systems Librarian and system developer;
Tracy M. Casorso, Project Manager; and Carolyn Argentati, Natural Resources
Branch Librarian will be on hand to answer questions about the software and
project.

The NCSU DDTP is a research and demonstration initiative investigating the
transmission of library materials over the Internet. Thirteen land-grant
libraries, representing most of the regional networks in the NSFnet/Internet,
have installed the project's off-the-shelf platform in the libraries'
interlibrary loan processing area and have been successfully transmitting
actual document requests since July 1991.

At approximately the same time, Lisa T. Abbott, Assistant Project Manager, is
hosting a poster session (#II-2) entitled, "Electronic Document Delivery via
Campus Networks" Saturday, June 27 from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. in the Poster Session
section of the exhibit area of the Mascone Canter Exhibit Hall. The poster
session will describe the efforts of the second phase of the NCSU DDTP - the
pilot electronic document delivery service that allows faculty, students, and
staff to request and receive library materials at their personal workstations.

VISIT BOTH - stop by the Apple Computer booth for a hands-on demonstration of
the NCSU DDTP's hypercard application and the poster session to learn more
about electronic document delivery to the enduser.
