I am getting ready for giving workshop(s) on FTP and TELNET, first to follow
librarians, later to faculty. I would like to get some input from others who
have given similar trainings and the "system" people on the list:
1. Do you provide hands-on practice for both anonymous FTP and TELNET, or
just live demonstration?
2. Are there limits to "simultaneous FTPing" from one site? I am thinking
about 8 to 10 people at a time. I know the courtesy is to do FTP during
non-business hours, but it is hard to give a training session at night.
3. Are there similar limits to "telneting"? I would especially like to hear
from people at MELVYL, CARL, Cleveland Freenet, and other popular sites.
What are your feelings of having others (like me) show your resources, and
perhaps "bring" 8 to 10 electronic visitors for a tour of about 20 to 30
minutes at a time?
You can respond to me or to the list. Thank you all very much in advance.
