Marnie Swanson, President of the Canadian Library Association, sent me a copy
of the short discussion papers for the National Summit on Information Policy
to be held in Ottawa, Dec. 6-8, 1992. The Summit is organized by CLA and the
Association pour l'avancement des sciences et des techniques de la
documentation (ASTED). To quote from a summary sheet: "Participation and
inputs are being sought from representatives of many interested groups such
as writers; publishers; librarians; hardware, software and database suppliers;
communications companies; research and policy institutes; consumers; business;
educators; curators and archivists; federal agencies and provincial
governments." On the basis of responses to the discussion papers, 200
individuals will be invited to the Summit. Responses should be returned by
June 30, 1992 to:
