I suspect that a large number of computer center staffers would say that
their role is to provide access to information, too.  If there's a
distinction to be made, maybe we could say that the librarian's role is
to provide intellectual access to information, while the computer center
provides technical access.  Ultimately, both librarians and computer
centers need to work together and share their expertise.  And if we
perceive that computer centers are treading on librarians' turf, perhaps
it's because we've failed to seize (or even see) opportunities for our
participation and leadership in electronic and networked information
resources.
