I saw Bernie's message about the village. A couple of comments:
1) The actual name of the project is the "Blacksburg Electronic
Village." Virginia Tech is, however, one of the key players.
2) Bernie wondered what involvement librarians were having
in the project. Paul Gherman recently left the directorship
at Virginia Tech in order to help plan BEV. As he explained
it to me, he hopes that one of his primary roles in the
endeavor will be to instill in the other participants a
service philosophy and an information philosophy that are
comparable to those held by librarians.
