Greetings!
I'm an assistant professor at Syracuse University's School of
Information Studies. Over the next year, I'm going to be doing a
speaking tour at many of the top library schools focused on raising
awareness of the different types of data living in library systems,
using data warehousing to protect privacy and maintain a data-based
history, and how to use bibliomining to explore the data warehouse.
Finally, I'll talk about how bibliomining, or the combination of data
mining, data warehousing and bibliometrics on library data, fits in with
other forms of library evaluation.
This is a free half-day non-technical workshop designed for librarians
and library students. This summer, I'm going to take the whole workshop
and put it online for free. I'm doing this to raise awareness of the
importance and usefulness of data created during library services.
