Assistant/Associate Dean for Information Services
University Library
The University of Nebraska at Omaha University Library invites applications
for an energetic, knowledgeable, and highly motivated leader to coordinate
instructional offerings, manage reference services, and handle personnel
administration. The successful candidate will have at least 5 to 7 years
of increasingly responsible library management experience including
significant supervisory and personnel experience and the vision to meet the
changing information needs of faculty, students and the community. The
University and department have a strong commitment to achieving diversity
among faculty and staff. We are particularly interested in receiving
applications from members of underrepresented groups and strongly encourage
women and persons of color to apply.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans and integrates instructional offering
including those provided in Reference and the Learning Center. Ensures
that instruction is coordinated with other offerings on campus. Supervises
the Learning Center and the Reference Department (7 FTE faculty, 2 FTE
Managerial/Professional, 6.5 FTE Office/Service, 2 graduate assistants, and
several student assistants and student tutors). Coordinates employee
recruitment, hiring, evaluation, and termination for all library employees.
Provides support for staff development activities.
QUALIFICATIONS: ALA accredited M.L.S. 5-7 years of increasingly
responsible library management experience including significant supervisory
and personnel experience. Experience in library instructional design,
academic library reference, and familiarity with learning assistance
programs. Current knowledge of information resources both print and
electronic. Familiarity with emerging technologies. Superior planning,
analytical, writing, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to
work effectively in a collaborative and integrated environment. Desired:
Advanced degree in addition to the M.L.S. Knowledge of licensing issues.
SALARY/BENEFITS: Salary is $70-75,000 for a 12 month appointment, tenure
track, TIAA/CREF, 24 days vacation, flexible benefits package.
