MLA is also available on Wilsonline although the backfile only goes back
to 1981. I called Dialog to ask them about the MLA situation and got a
rather hazy explanation. Does anybody know what happened? Luckily, I
have access to FirstSearch!

Just reading the cover article of the Oct. '92 DATABASE mag. on dead
databases by Barbara Quint. She says its available on Wilsonline, OCLC
EPIC and FirstSearch. To quote: "At the time of its removal from DIALOG,
rumors circulated that some large universities were licensing database
tapes from MLA for tens of thousands of dollars in subscription fees,
adding the file to their OPAC (online public access catalog) files. Not
true, says MLA. They only have one arrangement with a university and do
not actively market tape leasing." (p.22) That university is not mentioned.
I'd say you're out of luck.
