POSITION OF HEAD, SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT SECTION
THE LIBRARY SYSTEMS, MONA, KINGSTON, JAMAICA
Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position
of Head, Systems Development Section for the Library System, The University
of the West Indies, Mona.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have an MLS, MLIS or equivalent degree, with a minimum of
three years of practical and/or progressively increasing experience
managing an integrated library automation system in an academic/research
library setting. The successful candidate will possess good knowledge of
current trends in computing and information systems, strong service
orientation, strong oral and written communication skills and ability to
establish effective working relationships in a culturally diverse
environment.
Position Description:
Reporting to the Campus Librarian, the successful candidate will manage the
Library's technology infrastructure and ensure its integrity, maintain the
current integrated library system while planning for possible migration to
a next generation system. As a member of the Library's Senior Management
Team, the Head of the Library Systems Development Unit will provide
leadership in evaluation and integration of new technologies and approaches
including digital library initiatives, serve as the Library's liaison to
the Campus Information Technology Services and administer the System Unit
comprising 3.5 full time staff.
