 SUMMARY:
 Reporting to the University Librarian, this position directs and
supervises the operations of all areas of the Technical Services
Department. The department provides technical services support to all
libraries within the university, performing computerized online
acquisitions, cataloging and processing.  Responsibilities of this
position include recommending and implementing departmental policies;
preparation of procedures                               manual;
compilation of statistical reports; copy and original cataloging of all
photographs, mss, maps, posters, books and ephemerals for Special
Collections, and problem materials for general collection; participation
in library collection development; and provision of reference service. The
incumbent also has bi-campus responsibility for Technical Services and
library automation, including planning and maintaining all library
computing facilities and the DYNIX Online System.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. M.L.S. from an A.L.A. accredited library school.

2. Five years progressive professional library experience in Technical or
Public Services, including staff supervision.

3. 2-4 years experience in library automation planning and implementation,
including a thorough knowledge of library computer resources.

4. Experience with online searching, bibliographic instruction and the
OCLC system.

5. Knowledge of the uses of emerging information technologies in support
of teaching and research.

6. Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.

SALARY:  $32,000 - $41,000  Commensurate with experience.
