CALL FOR PARTICIPATION--POSTER SESSIONS -- **SECOND NOTICE**
The Changing Nature of Collections: Responses and Strategies
ENY/ACRL Fall Conference -- October 2nd, 2000
Hamilton College, Clinton, NY
Topics: The Eastern New York Chapter of the Association of College &
Research Libraries fall 2000 conference will address the changing nature of
library collections in the digital age. The keynote address and guest
speakers will focus on the growth of electronic resources and their effects
on both technical and public services staff and users. The morning will
feature a panel discussion with vendor/publishers and librarians offering
their respective responses to collections in the digital age. The
afternoon will include a session on collection development and cataloging,
followed by a presentation on creating front-end access.
We are seeking Poster Sessions that illustrate strategies or solutions
libraries have taken to deal with the growth of electronic resources in
their collections. Suggested topics include but are not limited to:
* CORC
* SPARC
* Practical solutions to the Print versus Electronic issues
* Electronic reserves
* NetLibrary
Poster sessions are informal presentations, and would take place during the
afternoon break. Special attention should be given to graphic design for
readability from a distance. Laptop computers and visual display devices
may be used if they are provided by the presenter and space permits. Each
poster session presentation should last about ten minutes, including time
for questions. All presenters should be prepared to repeat their
presentation several times. Attendees appreciate receiving handouts of the
main points of the session.
Location: Hamilton College is located one and one-half miles from Clinton
and nine miles southwest of Utica, New York. It is one hour from Syracuse
and two hours from Albany by car.
Abstract Length: Abstracts of 250 words describing the poster session
should be submitted for consideration.
Deadline for Submissions: July 31, 2000
Notification of Acceptance: August 15, 2000
Format for Submissions: All submissions should include a cover sheet in the
following format:
Title: title of poster session
Presenter(s): name of presenter
Affiliation: affiliation of author
Contact address: full postal address of presenter
E-mail: electronic mail address of presenter
FAX number: fax for presenter
Phone number: phone number for presenter
