The Oakland University Library seeks an energetic and enthusiastic
individual to provide general reference and instruction services as w=
ell as
collection development and technical support to faculty and students.

Primary responsibilities: Work closely with faculty and students to e=
xpand
the use of information resources through in-depth consultation and
effective instruction and reference services; serve as collection
development liaison to engineering, mathematics, and science departme=
nts;
assist with the development and integration of Web-based resources in=
to
library instruction, collection development, and reference services;
fulfill scholarship and service requirements for promotion and tenure=
.
Additional responsibilities will be assigned based upon the library's=
 needs
and the successful candidate's qualifications.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
ALA-accredited MLS degree; and the following as evidenced by coursewo=
rk,
previous work experience, professional development, or extracurricula=
r
activities:

--Ability to plan, initiate, and implement effective programs, projec=
ts, or
services.
--Strong interest in teaching and a commitment to client-centered ser=
vices.
--Demonstrated knowledge of a wide range of print and electronic
information resources, including Web-based formats and networked envi=
ronments.
--Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
--Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to work wi=
th
diverse faculty, staff, and students.
--Potential to meet library's requirements for promotion and tenure.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
--Knowledge of the research and instructional needs of students and f=
aculty
in engineering, mathematics, and/or the sciences.
--Previous teaching, reference, and/or collection development experie=
nce in
an academic library.
--Experience with HTML, multimedia, and instructional technologies.
--Degree in engineering, mathematics, or science.
--Scholarly publications; participation in professional organizations=
.

RANK, SALARY, BENEFITS:  Tenure-track, academic year (not a 22 vacati=
on
days per year appointment as had appeared in another notice),
bargaining-unit faculty appointment.  Tenure dependent upon job
performance, service, and scholarship.  Professorial rank and salary
determined by credentials and experience, with a minimum salary of
$32,000.  Excellent fringe benefits program including TIAA/CREF and
Fidelity retirement plans.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Oakland University is a comprehensive, state-sup=
ported
institution of approximately 15,000 students that offers a diverse se=
t of
academic programs at the baccalaureate, master's and doctoral levels,
