ASSOCIATE DEAN
KRESGE LIBRARY
OAKLAND UNIVERSITY, ROCHESTER, MICHIGAN
Oakland University seeks applications and nominations for the positio=
n of
Associate Dean of the University Library. The Associate Dean reports =
to the
Dean of the Library and is responsible for assisting the Dean in the
general administration of the Library and oversight of the $3.2M budg=
et and
34 member staff. This is a tenure-track position at the associate or
full-professor level.
Primary duties include working in close collaboration with program
coordinators and unit supervisors to coordinate day-to-day operations=
and
services of the Library; overseeing personnel matters; assisting with
budget development and management; coordinating communication and out=
reach
efforts; planning and management of special projects; overseeing libr=
ary
technology infrastructure and online services; assisting with fundrai=
sing
and grant writing; helping to develop and maintain collaborative
relationships and partnerships with other libraries and consortia, an=
d
representing the Library to internal and external constituencies. The
Associate Dean will work in a collegial atmosphere where planning, te=
amwork
and cooperation are emphasized.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An ALA-accredited master's degree in library/information science, wit=
h a
record of scholarship and professional achievement appropriate for aw=
ard of
an associate professorship or above, with tenure at Oakland Universit=
y;
significant record of increasingly responsible administrative experie=
nce
and accomplishment in management in an academic or other library sett=
ing;
excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal ski=
lls;
excellent analytical, organizational and project management skills; b=
road
knowledge of issues and trends impacting academic libraries, and stro=
ng
understanding of the emerging library technologies; evidence of
progressively responsible participation and leadership in professiona=
l
activities; strong commitment to diversity.
RANK, SALARY, BENEFITS: Tenure-track, 12-month appointment. Professor=
ial
rank determined by credentials and experience. Salary is competitive =
and
commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent fringe ben=
efits
program, 22 days vacation, TIAA-CREF and Fidelity retirement plans.
