POSITION: Digital Services Librarian, #0-083

DEADLINE: 5/12/00

SALARY: $39,000 - $41,000

The University of North Dakota is seeking applications for the position of Digital Services Librarian.  See the position description for more information.

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:
Coordinates design and development of the library Web site. Works with other library staff to develop and implement digital projects and new web-based services. Creates strategies for digitizing library collections, and plans and initiates implementation of projects. Works with Library Systems and Services staff to install, maintain, and support computer hardware, software, and networks for the libraries. Responsible for managing operations of assigned areas. 
Coordinates staff training for new and existing software. Assesses training needs of library staff, suggests training options, and identifies training opportunities. Shares responsibility for supervising part-time student assistants. May provide a full range of reference service in both traditional and automated environments, including service in all disciplines at the general reference desk and in-depth services in specified subject areas. May participate in bibliographic instruction, collection development, faculty liaison work, also grant writing activities, committees, special projects, and other activities as assigned. The position holds a joint appointment to Library Systems and Services and to Reference and Research Services. 
CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
Requires a graduate degree from any American Library Association accredited program and a minimum of three years relevant experience in academic or research libraries.  Prefer demonstrated knowledge or experience with web page authoring and design, computers, networks, and Windows 95/98.  Desire knowledge of electronic information resources and bibliographic instruction.  Prefer knowledge of collection development and ability to balance varied responsibilities, and a commitment to service.  Desire the ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
