wide an audience as possible. I also apologize for the late notice but our vax
has been down more than up for the last few weeks and I have not been able to
get on when it has been available.
Request for nominations for the G.K. Hall Award for Library Literature!
The American Library Association in cooperation with G.K. Hall presents an
award to one author and/or co-authors who make an outstanding contribution to
library literature issued during the three years preceding the presentation.
The book might emphasize management priniciples and practices, understanding
and applications of new technologies and education for librarians or other
information specialists. One award is presented annually and consists of a
cash award of $500 and a citation.
The criteria for nomination are:
1) Literature to be considered should be a book, that is not a continuing
publication such as an article, serial or annual.
2) An original work by the author and/or co-authors.
3) Country of author(s) and publishing origin will be only the United States
and Canada.
4) the language shall be English.
5) Qualities to be considered in the work, that
1) the methodology and documentation is distinctive and appropriate,
2) the literary quality of the writing has clarity, accuracy, and styling,
3) the format, typeface be appropriate, clear and free of typographical
errors, and
4) it is an evaluated, annotated, and creative effort.
6) Overall measures for judging the literature include:
How outstanding is the work?
What is the contribution it makes to the profession?
Is it a coherent contribution to knowledge and/or exemplary practice?
Does the literature provide overall relevancy to thet field?
Is there a consistent, integrated, evenness of quality in the content
and writing?

for a form to complete or send me the title, author, date of publication, and
publisher along with your name and adress. The deadline for the 1993 award is
OCTOBER 1st!!
