Entirely appropriate, to my way of thinking. It's very useful to know what
kinds of technical environments, needs, and problems are going on out
there, though they may be far far away from the bread-and-butter needs of
my own environment (think: over-busy and underfunded public library with a
technologically backward user base)(and staff; salesman from our library
system vendor mentioned sending overdue notices to users' palm pilots, and
most staff members in the room didn't know what a palm pilot is).
