The Placement Center at the Texas Library Association Annual Conference
provides free placement services to job seekers and employers.  The 2000
TLA Conference will be held in Houston Wednesday, April 12, through Friday,
April 14, 2000.  Over 8,000 librarians representing all types of libraries
are expected to attend.

FREE SERVICES (CONFERENCE REGISTRATION NOT REQURIED)

Job seekers can fill out a form listing their experience, skills, and
qualifications for review by conference-attending employers.  To do this,
fill out the job seeker form at http://www.txla.org/conf2k/place.html and
mail it to the address listed on that page.  Please keep in mind:
        You do not need to pay anything or attend the conference to register yourself
        Do not send your resume -- it will not be posted
        Forms must be received by Friday, March 24, 2000
        Forms after that date may be brought to the Placement Center at the
conference

Employers can post job openings for review by conference-attending job
seekers.  After the conference, all the job postings will be sent to Texas
library schools.  To register your jobs, fill out the employer form at
http://www.txla.org/conf2k/place.html and mail it to the address listed on
that page.  Please keep in mind:
        You do not need to pay anything or attend the conference to list your jobs
        Fill out one form per position
        Do not send your organization's job announcements -- they will not be posted
        Forms must be received by Friday, March 24, 2000

ON-SITE SERVICES (CONFERENCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED, NO CHARGE BEYOND THAT)

Job seekers will be able to review and copy job postings from public,
school, academic, and special libraries, leave messages and resumes for
employers, and interview with potential employers.  They will also be able
to attend resume critiquing sessions conducted by John Lehner, the
University of Houston Libraries Human Resources Director.  Job seekers
attending the conference are encouraged to bring copies of their resume to
distribute at interviews and to attach to messages left for employers.

Employers will be able to review and copy information from job seekers,
leave messages for and receive resumes and messages from job seekers, and
interview potential employees.  Employers attending the conference are
encouraged to bring copies of their official job announcements to
distribute at interviews and to attach to messages left for job seekers.

The TLA Placement Center will be open the following hours:

        Wednesday, April 12, 10:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
        Thursday, April 13, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
        Friday, April 14, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

In order to use the on-site Placement Center services, you must register
for the Conference.  Exhibits only badges do not permit use of the
Placement Center.
