Hello everyone,
I work in a small law library that is seeking to purchase an online
catalog. We are currently looking at four different systems: Library
World, produced by CASPR; SIMA OCAT, produced by SIMA (Service Information
Management Association); Alexandria, produced by the COMPanion Corporation;
and OnPoint, produced by TLC (Total Library Computerization). We are
interested in these primarily because they are designed for smaller
libraries, such as school and special libraries; as well as the variety of
modules, particularly serials; and their ability to support a Web-based
catalog. Are any of you currently using these systems in your libraries,
or know of colleagues who are using them? If so, how satisfied have you or
your colleagues been with their performance and the service from the
company? I would also like to know what sorts of questions you or your
colleagues have posed to vendors before purchasing any type of system. If
you prefer you can respond to my e-mail rather than the list. Thank you
very much.
