The Soviet Archives (including graphic images) can be accessed at:
ftp seq1.loc.gov

For English versions: cd pub/soviet-archive/text.english

There is a readme file in the soviet.archive directory {above, that
hyphen in soviet.archive should be a period}.

The exhibit "Revelations from the Russian archives" had an ftp site
that allowed retrieval of selected portions of the documents contained
in the exhibit. I don't know if the site is still active but here's
the instructions:

        FTP to seq1.loc.gov
        USERID: anonymous
        PASSWORD: anything or your address
        CD pub
        Cd soviet.archive
        get README

The README file has the index list of the documents.

Subject: RE: Russian Archives Exhibit access

This message is intended for users having difficulty
transferring the Russian archive files. We have had a few asking
questions about the instructions. Some will be repetition of the
previous message.
     FTP to seq1.loc.gov
     USER: anonymous
PASSWORD: your name or anything else
     cd pub
     cd soviet.archive
     get README
     cd text.english
     get filename

NOTE: The README (all caps) file contains a list of documents
available. To transfer any particular document, change directory to
text.english (if you want the English text) or images.gif (if you
want the image file of the original Russian). Then continue to use
the command get with the filename you wish to retrieve.
