HEAD, INFORMATION SERVICES. Search Extended. The W.W. Hagerty Library
of Drexel University seeks a dynamic, creative, service-oriented
librarian to lead the Information Services Department. Reporting
directly to the Dean of Libraries, the person in this position supervises
six subject specialists and support staff who provide instruction,
reference and outreach services, and collection development for Drexel's
Colleges. Working as part of the management team, the Information
Services Head has responsibility for planning and continually improving
and adapting policies and procedures in response to the changes,
challenges and opportunities that are part of the Library's current
environment.
Qualifications: MLS from an ALA-accredited program and a minimum of five
years experience in public service positions with at least three years of
supervisory experience. Ability to communicate well verbally. Strong
writing skill essential. Broad understanding of both print and
electronic reference sources and the impact of technology on libraries.
Commitment to service essential. A science background and web
development content experience preferred.
The Hagerty Library administration is committed to using technology to
improve service. The entire technological infrastructure was upgraded
this year to state-of-the-art equipment for staff and patrons. The
Library has about 400,000 volumes and an extensive and rapidly growing
