        LIBRARIAN FOR THE SCIENCES AND ELECTRONIC RESOURCES

The Noreen Reale Falcone Library, Le Moyne College, seeks a Librarian for
the Sciences and Electronic Resources to share with six other librarians
the operations of public and technical services.


RESPONSIBILITIES:  As Librarian for the Sciences:  provides specialized
reference services for faculty and students; oversees the development and
enhancement of collections and new services and programs; and provides
bibliographic instruction, including the teaching of a scientific
literature course.  As Librarian for Electronic Resources:  provides
leadership in evaluation and selection; oversees implementation and access
with Information Systems; coordinates staff training; and manages
development of the Library's Web pages.  With the other six librarians,
provides general reference services and bibliographic instruction,
including an introductory research skills course.


REQUIREMENTS:  ALA MLS, undergraduate degree in a natural science
(biology, chemistry, or physics) or comparable experience as a science
librarian.  Three years experience (preferably post-MLS), including
experience with electronic resources and database searching within the
last two years.  Instructional experience.  Advanced skills in HTML,
experience with networks, and knowledge of computer hardware and software
applications.  Ability to organize and manage multiple projects, to
identify and resolve problems, to communicate clearly and effectively, to
maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, and
faculty, and to work well independently and within a team.


PREFERRED:  reference experience in a broad range of disciplines.

SETTING:  Le Moyne College, a comprehensive college in the Jesuit
tradition, is committed to academic excellence in both the liberal arts
and professional programs.  Enrollment:  2,460 FTE.  The Falcone Library
will be implementing a web interface for its catalog (III) and enhancing
web access to electronic resources for all disciplines this summer.  These
changes are timed to take advantage of expanded access to electronic
resources students will have through a port-on-every-pillow project this

SALARY:  $36,155 minimum for 12 month appointment as Librarian II.
