Program and Services Specialist
The Office of Library & Information Services (OLIS) of the State
University of New York (SUNY) has an exciting
opportunity for a librarian eager to work in a consortium setting. The
OLIS, based in Albany, provides or coordinates many
services for SUNY's libraries. The OLIS is spearheading efforts to
migrate to a standard library management application and
increase access to electronic information.
The successful candidate will join a staff of five librarians working on
a wide range of projects and tasks. The successful
candidate will meet and work with professionals and faculty from around
the university system.
The successful candidate will be very comfortable with common
office/library computer applications. She/he will have excellent
oral and written communication skills, and the flexibility to move
easily and effectively from task-to-task. Three or more years
of appropriate library experience are necessary, as is a willingness to
travel. ALA-accredited MLS preferred. MSIS or
equivalent considered. An ability to deal successfully with change and
uncertainty is a definite plus.
If you are excited about this opportunity to help shape the future of
library services in one of the largest university systems in the
United States, tell us how you can contribute to that effort.
Salary: $42,000 - $48,000 commensurate with qualifications. Send letter
of application and resume by the close of business
February 16, 1999 to: Search Chair, State University of New York, Office
of Library and Information Services, State
University Plaza, Albany, New York 12246.
The State University of New York is an EEO/AA employer. Applications
from women, minority persons, disabled workers
and/or Vietnam Era Veterans are especially welcome.
