                   Director of Library Systems Vacancy
Oakland Community College (OCC) is a comprehensive, multi-campus, public

two-year institution with a primary mission of human development
achieved by quality learning opportunities and the services designed to
meet the present and emerging educational needs of the communities it serves.
OCC is the largest of Michigan's community colleges enrolling over 50,000
students a year.  The college, located in the dynamic growth area of
southeast Michigan has five sites with a library located on each site.

The Director of Library Systems is responsible for the planning,
implementation management, and maintenance of the library information system.
The Director oversees, coordinates, and translates innovative processes and
programs to enhance the information literacy level of the college community.
Duties include acquisition, processing, cataloging of all formats of library
material.

Oakland Community College is a member of the Detroit Area Library
Network (DALNET), a consortium of academic, public, and special
libraries in southeast Michigan.  DALNET is now implementing a migration
from the NOTIS system to the Horizon system, including Horizon's WebPAC.

Responsibilities for the new position, Director of Library Systems at
OCC would include being the Project Manager for the migration to
Horizon.  OCC invites your application for the position of Director of
Library Systems.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's in Library Science from an ALA
accredited institution.  Three (3) years of successful progressively more
demanding technical management experience in an automated academic library
environment.  Experience must include supervision, establishing budgets,
maintaining proper accounting records, acquiring library materials, cataloging,
and interfacing the libraries acuisition system with the college's financial
system.
