Empowering Black Communities Through Technology
November 16, 1998
Dear Community Leader,
By now you=92ve heard all the numbers. Technology is the future, and yet
African Americans lag behind in every measurable area. Well, this February
hundreds of thousands of Americans plan to do something about this. And we
need you to join our efforts.
From February 7-13, 1999, community, corporate, political and reglious
leaders and organizations from all walks of life will join together to
promote technology with the Black Family Technology Awareness Week.
During Black Family Technology Week, thousands of organizations throughtout
the United States will host technology-based activities that promote the
importance of technology, engineering, science and math to the Black community.
Our efforts during this week are designed to get our people excited =
about technology, and then to help them get involved with this growing field.
In order for Black Family Technology Week to be successful, we need
you to take ownership of one or more activities. Of course, we will send you
planning materials, and give-aways, but it is you who must reach out to your
community members.
Additional information of this exciting week can be found by visiting:
http://www.ccgmag.com/techaware/index.htm Please take a moment to
look it over. If there is a project you might be interested in hosting,
please fill out and return by email the enclosed form. You may also
submit an activity for inclusion in our national calendar by emailing to

Let us together take on the critical challenge of technologically
empowering our communities for the 21st Century.
