G. Cleveland on Sept. 15 suggested that there should be a discussion
list devoted to announcing the latest Internet information resources.
I have found that the list LIB_HYTELNET, run by Peter Scott, does
just this quite admirably. The list exists primarily as a means of
updating his wonderful hypertext guide to Internet resources, and thus
serves as a constant source of information on new resources. I have
discovered a number of interesting new resources this way, and
can only marvel at how Peter finds out about all these wonderful
things of which I have never heard (if he has a crystal ball he isn't
talking).
Anyone who wishes to subscribe to this list may do so by sending
a free-text request (no particular format need be followed) to Peter
Scott: scott@sklib.usask.ca . I cleared this with Peter before
posting this message, so he is prepared for subscription requests.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Peter for the work
he has done and continues to do in making Internet information
resources easier to discover and access. Without persons such as
himself, we would all be adrift in an information ocean bereft of
navigational aids. That we are not is a credit to him and to the others
who labor for the good of the network as a whole without thought of
personal compensation.

Actually, NETTRAIN announcements are--or should be--about new TRAINING
resources on the Internet: for instance, Arlene Rinaldi's recent
announcement of her revised "Netiquette" document. NETTRAIN is not intended
for general announcements of "neat stuff."
Although NETTRAIN is "unedited," I do try to exercise a certain amount
of guidance in keeping discussion on track. Ergo, this message. Thanks
for the mention, though.

It's on USENET as alt.internet.services. Scott Yanoff also has an Internet
list posted periodically in alt.bbs.internet on USENET.
