Health Care on the Internet

Call for Papers (Volume 3 Issue 2, 1998)

Health Care on the Internet (HCI) is a quarterly periodical devoted to
consumer, personal, and community health care information sources and the
Internet. The primary objective is to identify and disseminate the vast
amount of Internet-accessible materials to academic, special, and public
libraries; patient education centers, community hospitals, consumer
organizations, and the lay public.

The editors of HCI are currently looking for suitable papers that identify
and describe consumer-related health care information services and the
Internet. Articles should be intended for a wide audience including
librarians, health care professionals, or the health care consumer. Topics
of interest include, but are not limited to:

* Real-time Chat (IRC) Services for the Health Care Consumer.

* Guides to finding information about diseases and conditions, e.g.
Diabetes, Alzheimer's Disease, etc.

* Fitness Information on the Internet, e.g. companies, diets, yoga,
aerobics, magazines, and so on.

* Associations, public-interest groups, and other organizations devoted to
consumer-health issues.

* "Ask a Health Professional" services for the health care consumer.

* Health care referral services for patients.

* Personal narratives describing one's experience obtaining or
disseminating health information.

Proposals on other innovative ideas are also welcome. Papers should be
geared to the health care consumer or health care professional who might
interact with a potential patient or client who uses the Internet.

Individuals wishing to contribute a paper to Health Care on the Internet
should contact Eric P. Delozier, Editor, via e-mail (epd103@psu.edu), or
phone (717-948-6373). The Health Care on the Internet Web Page
(http://www.personal.psu.edu/epd103/hci/) may be consulted for further
information, including more specific instructions for prospective authors.
Papers for the second issue of volume three must be approved in advance by
the editors and will be due October 1, 1998.
