On September 23-25, 1998, UCLA Extension will present the short course,
"Residential Broadband Networking", on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles.
The instructor is George Abe, MS, Consulting Engineer, Cisco Systems.
Each participant receives the text, Residential Broadband, G. Abe, 1998,
as part of the course materials.
Residential broadband (RBB) networks are capable of supporting video
service to and within homes. This course aims to provide a
comprehensive introduction to residential broadband and should enable
participants to:
* differentiate consumer networking from business networking;
* describe new and existing entertainment and data services and
evaluate how demand for them will drive the development of RBB;
* define basic technology requirements and systems for
implementing
RBB and assess their state of readiness;
* understand business conditions and regulatory practices that
affect
rollout and viability of RBB networks.
This course is intended for anyone seeking a broad familiarity with RBB,
including product developers, content developers, engineers, network
designers, legal and regulatory professionals, and industry analysts.
The course fee is $1195, which includes extensive course materials.
These materials are for participants only, and are not sold separately.
