Mastering Web Searching presents strategies for searching: using subject

can help you in your research.
* Have developed skills in using basic syntax, boolean operators,
and special features at the major search engines: AltaVista,
  Excite, HotBot, Infoseek, Northern Light.
* Know what resources to use to search for information in
  newsgroups and mailing lists.
* Have chosen one or two preferred meta-searchers to help you
  with big-sweep searches.
* Be able to apply various strategies for starting a search
  and refining it.
* Be familiar with some speciality search tools.

There will be weekly "lectures" by email and Web page, assignments to build
