Position Title: Librarian - Online Information Resources Coordinator -
Half Time
Position Commitment: Half time for a 12 month period; renewable.
Position Location: Center for Learning and Technology, SUNY Empire
State College, One Union Avenue, Saratoga Springs, New York 12866.
Candidate Requirements: The successful candidate will have a bachelor's
degree in information studies (MLS preferred) and a minimum of 3 years
experience with the Internet and other online information resources,
preferably providing services to distance learners and faculty. Other
experience should include budgeting, bibliographic training, and
reference service. Excellent writing, presentation and teaching skills
required. Experience working with higher education faculty preferred.
Knowledge of and previous working relationships with the SUNY and/or New
York State Library System is a plus. Occasional overnight travel within
NY State required.
Position Description: The position reports to the Director of the Center
for Learning and Technology and is an expert in acquiring and organizing
access to online information resources (i.e. Internet, WWW, commercial,
bibliographic and full-text databases) in support of academic reference
and research pursuits of students and faculty in dispersed locations.
The librarian will also be experienced in providing training in the use
of electronic information resources and have indepth knowledge of the
SUNY and New York State Public Library systems.
Specifically, the Half-time, Online Librarian will:
1. Work closely with the Director of the Center for Learning and
Technology to develop a plan for insuring that SUNY Empire State College
students, faculty and staff, regardless of location, have reasonable
access to library and information resources in multiple media formats.
This work will complement and support the College Library and Information
Resources Committee.
2. Work with the CLT Director to develop a fiscal strategy and budget
plan to support current and future information services for non
campus-based learners. Oversee the college's information resources
budget.
3. Acquire online information resources; organize access and administer
security for online resources. Create and maintain print and online
documentation and access information related to public and commercial
library and information resources and recommend services that should be
secured in support of students, faculty and staff.
4. Plan and administer training and professional development programs to
a dispersed audience of students working and faculty working in 44
locations around NY state and from home.
5. Work closely with College faculty involved in developing online
instructional and learning materials to identify and present appropriate
online information resources.
6. Assist with filing appropriate copyright applications, to protect the
proprietary interests of the College in the electronic versions of
courses and other multimedia materials and to comply with copyright
restrictions.
Salary: $15,000 - 17,000 plus benefits, commensurate with
education/experience.

The Dayton and Montgomery County Public Library is seeking
applications from qualified candidates for the newly created
position of Systems Librarian. This nonsupervisory position
reports to the Assistant Director for Information Technology.
Responsibilities include management of the Library's DRA
automated library systems software. The successful candidate
will provide leadership in the library's automation efforts and
will assist staff and management in making the most effective
use of the library's DRA automated system. Typical activities
include installing new versions of DRA applications, tuning data
files, developing documentation and training programs.

including nine colleges and universities within a twenty mile radius.

Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS. Prior experience with DRA's
automated system preferred but not required.
Starting Salary: $33,197. Excellent fringe benefits including a
choice of health insurance plans, 22 days vacation, 15 days sick
leave, and 12 paid holidays annually.
