LIBRARY RESIDENCY PROGRAM:  Auburn University Libraries offers a two-year
residency program
to introduce recent library graduates  to academic librarianship.  The
purpose of this program is to encourage library students from
underrepresented ethnic groups to participate in the academic library
environment as well as increase faculty diversity on the Auburn campus.
The focus is to provide a solid introductory professional experience and
assist the resident in building a foundation to become an active
participant in the library profession. The library is committed to
providing mentoring, assistance in developing a research program, and
financial support for attending local and national conferences, seminars,
and workshops. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must have a recent master's
degree from an ALA-accredited program. Prior professional experience is
not expected. Applicants must possess effective communication skills and
be able to work closely with patrons and colleagues. Applicants from
underrepresented ethnic groups are especially encouraged to apply.
SALARY/BENEFITS: This is a two-year, non-tenure, non-renewable appointment
at the rank of Librarian I with a salary of $30,450, 20 days vacation
leave, and 12 days sick leave annually. Retirement and insurance plans

Documents Librarian - Central Washington University

Documents Librarian.  Lecturer (non-tenure track) or Assistant Professor
(tenure-track), 12- month position, faculty status.

General Responsibilities
Report to the Head of Documents, Maps and Microforms Department.  Assist
in the management of a selective depository library collection approaching
400,000 items, a microform collection exceeding 1.1 million items, and a
map collection of approximately 85,000 maps.  Provide documents reference
service and user instruction; engage in collection development of
documents, maps and microforms; do original and copy cataloging of maps
and Washington State documents using OCLC cataloging system; oversee use
of Marcive services; assist library users with CD-ROM and Internet
searching; supervise classified staff and student employees; participate
as a faculty member in University and Library committees; work some
evenings and weekends.

Required Qualifications
Lecturer (non-tenure track): ALA accredited MLS or equivalent; strong
public services orientation; demonstrated organizational, communication,
supervisory and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a
team setting with students, staff and faculty colleagues.
Assistant Professor (tenure-track): additional requirements: five years
professional university/college library experience or equivalent
experience at another library; an additional advanced degree or systematic
course work may substitute for up to three years experience.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience and/or education in: Documents or Maps Librarianship, OCLC
cataloging, CD-ROM database and Internet searching, Geographic Information
Systems (GIS), Marcive or equivalent subscription services, bibliographic
instruction, participation in professional library organizations.
Preference will be given to candidates with university/college library
experience.

Rank and tenure track status are dependent on qualifications. Lecturers
will be eligible to apply for tenure track status when faculty code
requirements for Assistant Professor rank have been met.

Salary is competitive and negotiable.  Salary range: Lecturer (non-tenure
track) $30-35,000; Assistant Professor (tenure track) $35,118-38,375.
Comprehensive benefits package includes 22 days vacation and TIAA-CREF.

Responsibilities:  Provide leadership for electronic reference
services and work collaboratively with library and campus departments
to plan, develop, and support access to electronic reference
resources. Also serve as liaison librarian to selected academic
departments; teach information skills; create guides for library web;
develop collections; and provide reference service. Reports to Head
of Public Services.

Qualifications: ALA/MLS; thorough knowledge of trends in electronic
resources and technology applications in libraries; experience with
web-publishing; demonstrated ability to work creatively and
collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment; excellent
interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated project
management skills; reference and instructional experience; at least 3
years relevant library experience in a academic library.

Environment: Carrier Library is equipped with over 150 networked
computers and provides access to more than 200 databases. JMU is a
state institution with an enrollment of 13,700 offering outstanding
undergraduate instruction and high quality graduate programs.
