ARCHIVIST II - WEB MASTER
Archives/Library Division
Contract
Salary Range $24,835.20-$36,025.60
NATURE OF WORK IN THIS CLASS
This is a contract position in the Archives Library Division supported
by state capital funds being made available for library automation. The
Web Master provides technical advice and assistance to OHS personnel on
the creation and maintenance of information presented on the Web.
Creates OHS material for the Web including databases to be displayed on
the Web. Works with the OHS Web Committee to prioritize web content and
with the graphic design department to mount content on the web site.
Evaluates software/hardware for use on the OHS web site.
ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK
Provides technical assistance to OHS personnel on the creation and
maintenance of Web pages. Creates OHS material World Wide Web site.
Works with the Web Committee to prioritize material for the web site.
Works with the Graphic Design Department to mount material on the web
site.
Evaluates software/hardware.
Perform other duties as may be required for the efficient operation of
the State Archives/Archives Library.
Follows instructions of supervisor, supervises/works with other staff
members in a congenial manner, assists other staff in a congenial manner
as necessary.
Works with state agencies and vendors in a congenial, professional
manner.
Complies with directions in a reasonable time frame, assumes
responsibility and authority when necessary, displays initiative and
flexibility.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS
Knowledge of HTML, SGML, Windows NT, PERL, CGI, API scripts, American
and Ohio history. Ability to follow complex written or oral
instructions, to work independently, to pay attention to detail while
completing repetitive tasks, to manage time effectively, to promptly
report problems to superiors, to use common office equipment, and to
make prudent decisions independently
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Will require the ability to lift, carry, reach, and retrieve items
weighing up to forty pounds from a height of six feet. May require
standing, and movement within a confined area for periods of up to four
hours. The ability to perform repetitive keyboard tasks.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Within office or library space with overhead lighting, and industrial
HVAC air circulation system.
QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in History, Library Science, Computer Science,
Information Science, or related field, or two years extensive computer
experience with bachelors degree. One year experience with advanced
Window applications or web site management/administration.
