According to John Quartermain's The_Matrix, Digital Press, 1990,
page 611-12:

"OMNET is a commercial conferencing system with extensive mail
service and mailing lists that is primarily accessed by X.25 and
that has a world-wide international scientific and engineering
clientele."  Also known as SCIENCENet.  Selected conferences: AIR,
POLAR, LIFE.  Internet gateway exists -- get fax from book for
complicated directions.
