Doctoral Workshop:
Information Seeking in Context: An International Conference
on Information Needs, Seeking and Use in Different Contexts

We would like to invite your participation in a new event at the
Information Seeking in Context conference, the Doctoral Workshop. The
Workshop will take place over two days preceding the main conference,
beginning on the evening of Tuesday the 11th of August with a reception
and continuing until Wednesday evening. During the Workshop, doctoral
students will be invited to share their current dissertation
work-in-progress with their peers and with an international panel of
academic staff.
Although funding plans are still tentative at this date, we hope to be
able to provide the following support for participating graduate students:
* Workshop students will be provided with complimentary ISIC'98
conference registration fees. These are provided with the support of
MBC Press
* A limited budget is available for travel grants to Workshop students
from Nordic Countries. Students must demonstrate that they have sought
alternative funding before requesting travel money from the Workshop.
These grants will be financed by the Nordic Information Studies
research education NETwork (NordIS-NET).
A special Poster Session is planned at the main ISIC' 98 for doctoral student
contributions. Your submitted thesis outline will automatically be entered
for this poster session, unless you indicate otherwise.
Submissions are due March 4, 1998.
