About two months ago I posted a brief overview of an
op-ed piece that appeared in the 8/15/97 issue of
the Chronicle of Higher Education (David Rothenberg's
"How the Web Destroys the Quality of Students'
Research Papers").

I thought I might also point out that letters to the editor
regarding this article have started to appear in the
Chronicle. See pages B3 and B12 of the 10/10/97
issue for four letters. The authors of the letters come
from varied backgrounds: a director of information
technology, a public services librarian, a professor
of philosophy, and and a professor of history.

Each of the writers makes good points. If you read
Rothenberg's original piece, I'd recommend that you
also take a look at these letters.
