Omaha Public Library Director
The Omaha Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking an energetic,
community oriented Director (Chief Executive) to administer a public
library system consisting of a main building downtown and 9 branches.
Omaha is the major banking, marketing, telecommunications, medical,
cultural and strategic military center for Nebraska and the surrounding
region. It is an historic city with a rapidly growing infrastructure for
information technology services and education. Omaha is headquarters to
major corporations such as Union Pacific Railroad, ConAgra, Mutual of
Omaha, Applied Communications, Inc., First Data Resources, Kiewit and others.
Requirements and Qualifications:
An M.L.S. degree from an ALA accredited program or equivalent is
required. Significant and progressively increasing experience in public
library service, operation, supervision and planning is required. Must
have demonstrable leadership, management and communications skills.
Should have a metropolitan focus emphasizing linkages with local
schools, universities and public agencies. Experience in working with
community groups and state agencies in extending library services to
educational and business constituencies is desirable.
The annual library budget of the Omaha Public Library exceeds
$9,000,000 and the full-time equivalent staff exceeds 150 employees.
Compensation:
Salary will be negotiable and commensurate with qualifications and
experience.
