We're thinking about getting FirstSearch for our students and faculty, to
be available through the campus network, using Internet access to OCLC.
We are unable to charge users for searches. I'd like to know how other
libraries who offer free access to FirstSearch control usage.
1. Do you hand out authorization cards or just use one password?
2. Do you have policies on the number of searches/cards you
give to users? Different policies by type of user
(faculty, grad students, etc.)?
3. How do you keep track of how many searches/cards a patron
has used?
4. Any other suggestions or warnings are welcome.
You can respond directly to me. Thanks.
